AGMA 7 EP, ISO VG 460 | Gear Lube (EP)

Gearboxes frequently exposed to extreme temperatures and pressures may require an EP (or extreme pressure) additive in order to keep the internal components of these machine components protected and well-lubricated. The EP additive helps to increase the performance characteristics of gear lubes but they may contribute to wear in gearboxes containing yellow metals such as bronze and brass. Make sure before implementing an Extreme-Pressure (EP) Gear Lube that your gearbox does not contain these metals. AGMA 7 EP, ISO VG 460 EP Gear Lubes are formulated from the most premium base fluids and combined with exclusive additive technology to improve performance and extend systems life.

ISO VG 460 oil has a midpoint kinematic viscosity of 460 cSt (centistokes). The midpoint is derived by taking the average of both the minimum and maximum kinematic viscosities which is accounted for by the AGMA designation. The maximum and minimum kinematic viscosity of an AGMA 7 oil is 506 mPa.s and 414 mPa.S, respectively. Averaging these two quantities together, the result is equivalent to the midpoint kinematic viscosity measured in the ISO VG testing mechanism.
