ISO VG 46 | Compressor Oil| Synthetic Diester Base

Synthetic Diester Compressor Oils are lubricants typically intended for heavy-duty, reciprocating air compressors but are not recommended for air compressors used in breathing air applications. Diester-based fluids are commonly used in place of mineral oil-based lubricants due to their increased ability to reduce friction while maintaining very high viscosity index: meaning it will function consistently regardless of high or low temperatures. Also known as Dibasic Acid Ester, Diester has exceptional detergent qualities for removing build-up and debris.

ISO VG 46 oil has a midpoint kinematic viscosity of 46 mm2/s, also referred to as centistokes (cSt). The midpoint is derived by taking the average of both the minimum and maximum kinematic viscosities. In the case of ISO VG 46 oil, those numbers are 50.6 cSt and 41.4 cSt, respectively. These numbers refer to the standard testing mechanisms used to determine how much resistance to flow (i.e. viscosity) these oils demonstrate.
