Tectyl 6430 is a premium water-based, black asphalt emulsion corrosion compound suitable for the complete undercoating of both ferrous (iron-containing) & non-ferrous (iron-free) metals, transportation equipment, industrial trailers, etc. to provide critical corrosion resistance and sound dampening.
Rigorously tested to meet the demanding performance requirements of Federal Specification TT-C-520B, Tectyl 6430 has been proven to grant quality protection against corrosion and effectively reducing noise/vibrations from the coated substrate.

This high-quality water-based underbody coating contains a significantly low VOC (Volatile Organic Compound/Content) of just 0.17 lbs. per gallon and is completely non-flammable, making it an excellent choice when an economical and environmentally conscious undercoating is preferred.
Tectyl 6430 is specifically formulated to maximize performance when subjected to extremely elevated temperatures up to 350°F, such as those typically generated on the vehicle underside by the engine, exhaust system, or braking components of the coated vehicle, effectively retaining its consistency and avoiding dripping.

Offering advanced adhesion to metallic surfaces, this asphalt emulsion can be applied directly to metal or over painted surfaces, the cured corrosion preventive compound revealing a firm, resilient, and abrasion resistant black matte textured film.

Product Uses:

• Black, Water-Base, Asphalt Emulsion, Corrosion Preventive Compound suitable for the complete undercoating of ferrous (iron-containing)/non-ferrous (no-iron) metals, transportation equipment, automobiles, industrial trailers, and modular home chassis frames.
• Fulfills the demanding requirements of Federal Specification TT-C-520B, complying with rigorous quality and performance standards to provide increased corrosion protection and sound dampening.
• Utilized as an OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) coating for School Buses.
• Works efficiently within intense elevated temperatures such as those generated on the vehicle underside by components like the engine ore exhaust system.

Product Performance:

• When applied at the recommended wet film thickness of 16-20 mils over the surface profile, it will deposit the recommended dry film thickness of 8-10 mils.
• Dry to touch in 60-90 minutes and fully cured after 16-24 hours.
• Low Volatile Organic Compounds/Content (VOC) at 0.17 lbs. per gallon, Non-Flammable, and suitable for applications where an economical resilient underbody coating is required.
• Applicable directly to metal or over painted surfaces.
• Effectively withstands elevated temperatures with a High Temperature Flow at 350°F and above, ideal for heat generated by engines, exhaust systems, and braking components.
• Covers 80-100 square ft. per gallon when applied at the recommended film thickness.
• Can provide up to 3 years of outdoor protection and 5+ years of indoor protection on metal substrates at the recommended dry film thickness.

Application Equipment Recommendations: 

• Pumps with ratios of 30:1 or greater are advised for efficient use of container content due to the high viscosity of this asphalt compound.
• A minimum of 80-120 psi should be delivered via Airless pumps to a 0.017-0.025 reverse-a-clean tip.
• Tungsten Carbide Nozzles Tip in the spray gun is recommended. (.017" to .025" tip orifice size)
• High Pressure Fluid Hose of no less than 3/8 in. diameters is suggested for less than 50 ft. of material hose.
• Low Ratio pumps (15-30:1): operate through 100 ft. of 1/2 in & 50 ft. of 3/8 in. hose for a max of 150 ft.
• High Ratio pumps (>30:1): operate through 200 ft. of 1/2 in & 50 ft. of 3/8 in. hose for a max of 250 ft.
