Tectyl 848 DHF, is a solvent cutback, water displacing, soft wax/oil base corrosion-preventive compound used to protect metal parts and components in shipment and storage where a high flash product is necessary. The film is thin, extremely light, oily, and translucent. This product is designed for easy application by spray, dip or brush and is a one-coat rust preventive. The thin film provides high coverage and low-cost protection.

Surface Preparation:The maximum performance of this product can be achieved only when the metal surfaces to be protected are clean and dry. However, this product has excellent water displacement and penetrable properties and is effective on lightly rusted and/or damp surfaces.
Application:
This product is formulated to be used as supplied.

✓ - Ensure uniform consistency prior to use.
✓ - Continuous stirring or thinning is generally not required.
✓ - To restore consistency add aliphatic mineral spirits.*
✓ - Apply at 50 - 95F (10 - 35C) by spray, dip, or brush.
Removal:This product can be removed if necessary with mineral spirits or any similar petroleum solvent, vapor degreasing, or chemical cleaning. It may be removed from fabrics by normal dry cleaning procedures. Avoid the use of highly aromatic solvents when removing from painted surfaces, as these solvents may affect paint.
Long-Term Protection:This product is an excellent indoor preservative for phosphated or unphosphated machined parts, automotive parts, crankshafts, bar and drill stock, and other ferrous parts. This product has active water displacing properties and will quickly displace water and water/oil emulsions from metals. It can be used as an anti-spatter compound for welding operations. Additionally, this product is miscible with lubricating oils and generally need not be removed from protected components of these systems.

Caution: COMBUSTIBLE - Tectyl 848 DHF cures by solvent evaporation. Keep away from heat, sparks, and open flame. Use with adequate ventilation. If applied to the interior of an enclosed vessel, adequate ventilation is required for cure and to ensure against formation of an explosive atmosphere. For further information, consult Technical Bulletins #22 and #34. For additional handling and first aid information, refer to Daubert's Safety Data Sheet.

NOTE: The addition of any product over or under this coating is not recommended. The use of additional coatings could result in chemical incompatibility, thus adversely affecting the performance of this coating as stated in the lab data section. If a products other than Daubert Chemical Company's recommended product is required, written authorization must be obtained from Daubert Chemical Company.

*Only dilute if necessary to restore consistency.
