Hey guys Joe and John here with Petroleum Service Company and today we're gonna be going over five common automotive engine myths that you might not know now proper engine maintenance is key if you want to keep your car driving smoothly for as long as possible you might already know that oil is a major component in routine car maintenance keeps the engine lubricated prevents corrosion and prevents gunk and sludge buildup but how much of what you know about engine maintenance is merely fiction sometimes what we think we know as fact doesn't apply to modern vehicle maintenance and let's get started with the first one and that is engines need to be warmed before driving is this true oh yeah don't steal questions should you or should you not idle your car before driving back in the day older cars with carburetors benefited from warming up to ensure the right mix of air and fuel the engine however modern-day engines with electronic fuel injections actually have censored that determine the right mix of air and fuel so you no longer need to do this to get that mixture right alright so no longer is it an issue I mean the Department of Energy still recommend only idling for about 30 seconds before driving ah that's more to get the lubricants and the engine oil to move throughout the engine just put the benefits on the engine side into will warm up faster being driven which will allow to heat to turn on sooner anyway and the second myth is almost a misconception in itself and that's the W in your oil 5W-20 for instance stands for a week that is not true it's not true right you're in multi viscosity engine oils there so the W actually stands for winter 5W-20 is an example of a multi viscosity oil and contains viscosity index improvers that allow the oil to compensate for a wide range of temperature so really looking at a 5W-20 your 5 is the oils viscosity at startup your 20 is your oil viscosity at operating temperature that's what viscosity improvements do they actually do the opposite it'll make it a lighter oil then as the oil heating up it's actually thickening to a 25W-20 w being winter all right perfect next up we have synthetic oil and the myth is that synthetic oils cause leaks they say they wear down the engine seals and cause leaks is this true yeah early synthetics were made differently and their esters were hard on neoprene seals which caused leaks this was in the 1970s and modern synthetic oils are much nicer to seals synthetic oils won't cause leaks anymore but if you have a marginal seal diesel will certainly find the compromise so once you do go synthetic you can actually go back ok right on that leads us right into our fourth one and that was you know once you use a synthetic oil can you go back to a mineral absolutely I mean look at modern-day engine oils nowadays most are semi synthetic you're actually using a mix of the two so to say you can't go to a synthetic or from a synthetic to a mineral base no longer an issue because of the new seals being made the way they are the rubbers being made the way they are we can go either way and like I said most cases what you're seeing on the road now are semi synthetic side up minimum right and a lot of so a lot of these myths can be attributed to technology really right furthering a lot of these along you know right things that were issues in the past or no longer modern day vehicles and finally our last myth is that it's bad to switch brands I've been using mobile one in my car since down since the 50s I'm not changing it now this myth is it true not true at all again we always go back to what we stick to here at PSC is always go by what you're oh em is recommending so just refer to that owners manual it doesn't matter as long as that all you're using meets the specification that the OEM is recommending that's the most important brand really has nothing to do with calling for semi synthetic 5W-20 if make sure it's a 5W-20 doesn't matter the blend yeah and to even go further on that point we have a fantastic cross reference tool that you can use to find equivalents for maybe a current product that you're already using it doesn't have to be in your automotive and you know pick your oil that you currently have and maybe to find a different option and we have that ranging from an incredible list of brands applications could be compressor oils industrial applications automotive applications so very comprehensive together so if you want to switch brands we are the place to check out and find the perfect one for you all right so this has been five common automotive engine myths dispelled basically and for petroleum service company I'm Joe with me as always is John thanks for watching guys thanks guys you

Hi guys John here with undercoatingacan. Com and with me is David Thompson vice president of Coatings of Petroleum Service Company and today we're excited to talk to you about a brand new product the quick coat easy sprayer paired with our brand new product offering the original black blacks and 12 one quart containers really excited to go ahead and try this in real time in real life on this Ford F-350 that we did a few years ago you're going to see some of the corrosion that that comes back like I said our original black wax is a five-year product so we're gonna go ahead and touch it up and show you guys just how easy it is to use our new quick coat easy sprayer and John you described it perfectly it's a a new packaging option with the new application tool so it's safe to say this is almost an alternative to our aerosol cans our original product what we see is folks wanting to get aerosols out of the workplace and see if they can do that and still be efficient in the application of the product and I think also pretty safe to say it's an economical product besides it being a good for the environment women economically it makes sense right because it looks like you're getting a little more bang for your buck if you go with this package offer actually you are because if you buy a case of aerosols you know you're probably getting about 84 85 actual ounces of product if you buy a case of quartz you're going to get 384. So you would have to buy four and a half cases of aerosol cans just to get what you're going to get in our court case that's going to make things a little bit easier for the do-it-yourselfer or the automotive garage car dealership somebody maybe in a startup you know you don't want to go spend a lot of money maybe on a big pump sprayer anybody wanting to get started in this business I mean it's a nice handy efficient environmentally friendly system I think we've got professional looking results so I'm happy with it I love the way it worked I'm a diy-er myself so getting my hands on a tool like this is always fun and uh I have to say I enjoyed it so Dave thank you for the opportunity to go ahead and play with this for a little bit today this is the time now for all you out there to get your vehicles ready for the winter especially up here in the Northeast the quick coat easy sprayer can be bought on petroleumservicecompany. Com and on the manufacturer website undercoating the can. Com along with the 12 32 ounce quartz so for UndercoatingInACan.com I'm John with me is David and thanks for watching
Unfortunately this year we're probably just going to end up staying home and doing it online over soon this year i think we're going to do it virtually very quiet now my children are across the country so this year we are probably not going to do dinner and maybe virtually open gifts christmas eve is usually pretty quiet around my house so what's gonna happen this year again to be determined celebration of family and love this year i'll be jamming on my ps5 probably having a very good christmas eve with our kids uh i'm just trying to get them to bed as early as i can so i can put out all their gifts without them knowing so i'll actually get a lot of sleep and all the gifts will be wrapped before midnight so there's a and take we can do anything different this year we're gonna do the same stuff with our family uh we're all socially distant so what's wrong with stay about to say keep the traditions alive so it'll be nice to actually spend time with my wife at home and not have to be worrying about jumping from house to house however we will be doing some socially distanced christmas caroling around the neighborhood crab legs we always end the night grab legs and it's the thing i look forward to the most my children will exchange gifts with their cousins and what they'll do is open it up virtually on christmas eve and they'll get to take a guess at which cousin normally my boyfriend and i will open up one present on christmas eve usually it is our christmas pajamas for that year that will open all the rest of our gifts on christmas morning with my wife and my kids we do christmas cookies on christmas eve everybody gets in their jammies and big sugar cookies probably most of the day and we ended up with every kid opening up at least one present probably just curling up with my cat and opening presents with my boyfriend it's a little bit smaller more personal than the chaos that is christmas day silent night was first performed on christmas eve in 1818 at st nicholas parish church in opendorff a village in present-day austria a young priest father joseph moore had written the lyrics of the song steli knocked in 1816 in maria far after going for a walk and looking out over a very quiet peaceful winter lead in town franz zover gruber a school master and organist in the nearby village of arnsdorff composed the melody for guitar for the christmas eve mass it's rumored to have been composed for a guitar after flooding had damaged the church organ from there two traveling families of folk singers the strassers and the rainers included the song in their shows with the rainers even performing it for france the first of austria and alexander the first of russia the rainers also made the first performance of the song in new york city in 1839 the oldest known english copy was printed in 1840 british french and german soldiers reportedly sang the song as part of the famed christmas truce in 1914 during world war one in which they laid down their arms crossed into each other's trenches to play games exchange gifts and sing songs since then silent night has been translated into over 300 languages which declared an intangible cultural heritage by unesco in 2011 and is one of the best-selling and most popular songs of all time merry christmas from psc
Hey guys, Joe and John here with Petroleum Service Company and today we are talking about absorbent products. Now, nobody likes a spill. All right, whether it's milk, morning coffee, or uh maybe it is a type of uh industrial lubricant. And in those instances, you don't just want a paper towel, you want something that'll get the job done right. And we have an extensive line of great products from not only Dry Right, but also PolySafe products. That's right, Joe. Let's start off with the Dry Right product. Uh the Dry Right with with the the key component to it is the Fuller's Earth. Uh Fuller's Earth being a clay product has excellent uh soaking capabilities for hydrocarbons. [00:41] And then it also have dolomite in it for traction. So, you want to kind of put this down, let it sit on the floor. You don't want an employee walking through there and slipping. Right. Uh so, you have the the dolomite in there for for uh traction. And those Dry Right uh bags are available in 40-lb bags and great price on our website. And then jumping on over to the PolySafe products, you know, uh we have a you know, a little wide variety here for different applications it looks like. Right, right. Uh PolySafe being it is a polyfiber, polypropylene fiber. Uh again, excellent soaking capabilities in a polyfiber and polyfibers actually float. Basically, think of these as like paper towels on steroids. [01:19] All right. Really just throw paper towels on it, but these will again absorb hydrocarbons. The first one is the drum toppers. So, you have an employee goes over to a 55-gallon drum, pumps some oil. They miss, they leak, they drip. Yeah. Uh you have a puddle of oil sitting on top of that drum. Next guy comes over, walks into it. Now he's mad. He's got oil all over him. So, you put a a PolySafe drum topper on there, absorbs it up, switch them out. I don't know how many gallons you get out of a box, Joe? Yeah, so we have 25 of those in a pack and they can absorb up to 8.6 gallons per box. [01:50] That's a lot of oil. You don't want to lose 8.6 gallons, but know that you could safely dispose of and collect it if need be. Right. Uh another one similar to that again in our polyline is just the oil absorbent pads. Pads up there the rectangular shape again very similar to our drum toppers but these are more for on the floor. Correct. You'll see these in trucks sometimes the drivers will carry them they'll they'll put them if they know they have a leaky spot they can put it underneath rather than dump out a whole bag of dry right. Put one of these toppers under there it'll collect small leaks. Easy clean up you're not sweeping it up and having to dispose of it so just pick it up again like a paper towel on steroids. [02:27] And those are in packs of 100 and get up to 26.3 gallons per box. All right John and and moving on from the absorbent pads we also have the absorbent sock. Right right so the absorbent sock think of it like a sandbag you know you see spills out there you're trying to contain something the absorbent sock that's exactly do it'll contain hydrocarbons. Great for keeping anything from getting in your shop drains keeping them from getting into natural waterways and if you're outside you have an incident outside and you're near a waterway you can contain that spill from getting into it. And the absorbent socks are sold separately in a pack of 30 and each one of them holds up to about a gallon but you can also get them in our all encompassing trucker spill kit. [03:07] Right right so you have your trucker spill kit which is exactly what it says this is going to be one of those kits you want to keep behind the seat of your truck any of the equipment you have out there in the field it's going to contain everything we see on the table here minus your drum toppers cuz you're not driving around with a drum of oil and you're not going to be using your dry right out in the field cuz that's again for sweeping up around the shop floor but the uh conveniently packed trucker spill kit is going to contain everything you need socks it's going to have oil absorbent pads it's going to have a pair of nitrile gloves even a bag with a tie to go ahead and pick up and and clean everything up when you're all finished. [03:37] All right right on. So as you guys can see we have an extensive lineup of absorbent products that you can find under the additional maintenance supplies section of our website petroleumservicecompany. Com and for John I'm Joe. Thanks for watching guys. Right on, guys.
