AGMA 7 EP, ISO VG 460 | Gear Lube | Syn (EP)

Gear drives operating under extreme pressures, temperatures, and in intense operating conditions may require an EP (extreme pressure) additive in their lubricants. EP additives are designed to increase the performance characteristics of gear lubricants, but they may not be applicable for all gearbox types, so check with OEM specifications. The synthetic variety of these lubricants are extremely resilient lubricants that can withstand the test of time - while other lubricants will fail in the presence of such high pressures and temperatures in gear boxes, Synthetic EP gear lube will perform exceptionally well while contributing to machine efficiency in the process.

ISO VG 460 oil has a midpoint kinematic viscosity of 460 cSt (centistokes). The midpoint is derived by taking the average of both the minimum and maximum kinematic viscosities which is accounted for by the AGMA designation. The maximum and minimum kinematic viscosity of an AGMA 7 oil is 506 mPa.s and 414 mPa.S, respectively. Averaging these two quantities together, the result is equivalent to the midpoint kinematic viscosity measured in the ISO VG testing mechanism.
