Synthetic R&O Bearing Oils are some of the most versatile lubricants used in industrial applications - though these oils may be used in most heavily-loaded plain and rolling-element bearings, the synthetic formulations of these oils allows them to be used in certain compressors, gearboxes, hydraulic systems, and circulating systems (consult OEM specifications and product data sheets to determine applicability). The synthetic base stocks of these fluids allows them to perform at high levels even under extreme temperatures and pressures - the performance-life of these oils greatly extend that of mineral-based oils. Additionally, internal system components are better protected by these synthetic oils.
ISO VG 150 oil has a midpoint kinematic viscosity of 150 mm2/s, also referred to as centistokes (cSt). The midpoint is derived by taking the average of both the minimum and maximum kinematic viscosities. In the case of ISO VG 150 oil, those numbers are 135 cSt and 165 cSt, respectively. These numbers refer to the standard testing mechanisms used to determine how much resistance to flow (i.e. viscosity) these oils demonstrate.
