As the name implies, this category contains Hydraulic Fluids that resist catching on fire. The majority of hydraulic fluids that are in use are mineral based oils which do run the risk of ignition at higher temperatures and open flame. Fire Resistant Hydraulic Fluids have a much higher Flash Point but can also ignite at a certain point based on their formulation. That is why it is necessary to know the level of hazard in order to select the appropriate fluid. These Fire-Resistant Hydraulic Fluids can be categorized as HFAE, HFAS, HFB, HFC, HFDR and HFDU. They can also be registered as FM (Factory Mutual) and MSHA (Mine Safety & Health Admin.) approved.
