Slideways are often vulnerable to metal-to-metal contact due to the frequently moving, sliding components of these machines. These machines require lubrication unique to their purpose - having extremely high film-strengths, slide way lubricants are designed to displace pressure and friction in order to maintain separation between the metal surfaces and prevent damage. Stick-slip is an undesirable occurrence that happens when slideways are utilizing old or inadequate lubricants - slideway lubricants from PSC are designed to eliminate stick-slip issues and improve performance.
ISO VG 150 oil has a midpoint kinematic viscosity of 150 mm2/s, also referred to as centistokes (cSt). The midpoint is derived by taking the average of both the minimum and maximum kinematic viscosities. In the case of ISO VG 150 oil, those numbers are 135 cSt and 165 cSt, respectively. These numbers refer to the standard testing mechanisms used to determine how much resistance to flow (i.e. viscosity) these oils demonstrate.
