Marine Hydraulic Oils are specially formulated meeting three main requirements; biodegradability, low toxicity and low bio accumulation. Lubricants designed for use in hydraulic systems on boats, ships and other equipment operating around waterways are commonly refer to as EAL's or Environmentally Acceptable Lubricants.
The midpoint kinematic viscosity of these oils may be measured in cSt (centistokes) or in mm2/s - this is where the number 68 comes from. ISO VG 68 oils have a midpoint viscosity of 68 mm2/s.
