ISO VG 1000 oils, or AGMA 8A (sometimes referred to as AGMA 8AC) oils, are designed to provide lubrication and protection in various industrial tasks including the lubrication of industrial gearboxes operating under heavy-loads and also as general-purpose rust and oxidation oils.
AGMA (American Gear Manufacturers Association) and ISO VG (International Standards Organization Viscosity Grade) are two separate testing mechanisms that represent the same value. This value is a measurement of the oil viscosity. Viscosity is a measured by observing the movement of an oil through a standardized orifice.
In the case of ISO VG 1000 oils, these lubricants have a midpoint kinematic viscosity of 1000 cSt. This number is derived from the minimum and maximum viscosities, measured in the AGMA testing method, which are 900 mPa.S and 1100 mPa.S, respectively. Check with OEM specifications to determine if these oils will fit your application.
