Tectyl 2472 VC High Performing, Direct-to-Metal, High Solid, Water-Based Black Corrosion Preventive Compound Formulated with Low VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds/Content)

Tectyl 2472 VC is a premium water-based, black corrosion preventive coating formulated with high solids and a significantly low VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds/Content) of just 0.21 lbs. per gal for economical and environmentally conscious protection against corrosion for both ferrous (iron-containing)/non-ferrous (no-iron) metal surfaces.
This high performing corrosion inhibiter compound provides powerful corrosion protection as a thin standalone single-application coating as well as a suitable base-layer primer that can be painted over for various industrial applications such as the transportation and automotive industries.

Tectyl 2472 VC appears dark blue when applied and ultimately cures to form a hard, yet flexible black film that is resistant to chipping and works exceptionally well for coating surfaces with complex shapes.
As a water-based industrial corrosion preventive compound, it possesses no Flash Point and the dried black film leaves no residue when touched, allowing for safe use as well as simplified handling during manufacturer sorting and stacking activities.

Product Uses:

• Water-Based, Black, hard, and flexible, chip resistant coating for application to both ferrous (iron-containing) & non-ferrous (no-iron) substrates in the transportation industry.
• Incredible coating for automotive parts, trailer landing gear, leaf springs as well as industrial steel fabrications.
• Performs extraordinarily well over casted substrates that are exhibiting a surface profile.
• Dried film leaves no residue when touched, making the coated goods easy to handle during sorting and stacking activities in manufacturing environments.
• Performs very well as a standalone, single-application coating or as a base-layer primer coating.
• Possesses a considerably high level of corrosion protection at a significantly low film build-up of only 1 mil.
• Formulated to contain NO Flash Point making it a versatile fit for most workplace applications requiring a high performance black hard coating.
• Free of Hazardous Air Pollutants (HAPs Free) and formulated with a very low Volatile Organic Compounds/Content (VOC) of 0.21 lbs. per gallon minus water.

Product Performance:

• Suitable for application via spray, dip, or brush.
• When applied at the recommended wet film thickness of 5-7 mils over the surface profile, it will deposit the recommended dry film thickness (DFT) of 1-2 mils.
• Covers 228 square ft. per gallon when applied at the recommended dry film thickness.
• Can provide up to 2+ years of outdoor protection and 5+ years of indoor storage protection on metal substrates at the recommended dry film thickness (DFT).

Application Equipment Recommendations: 

• Pumps with ratios of 15:1 or greater are advised for efficient use of container content.
• Tungsten Carbide Nozzles Tip in the spray gun is recommended. (.021" to .025" tip orifice size)
• High Pressure Fluid Hose of no less than 3/8 in. diameters is suggested for less than 50 ft. of material hose.
• Low Ratio pumps (15-30:1): operate through 100 ft. of 1/2 in & 50 ft. of 3/8 in. hose for a max of 150 ft.
• High Ratio pumps(>30:1): operate through 200 ft. of 1/2 in & 50 ft. of 3/8 in. hose for a max of 250 ft.
