Safecote A Water-Based, Low VOC, and Non-Flammable Wax-like Corrosion Preventive Compound Free of Hazardous Air Pollutants (HAPS Free)

Safecote A is a water-based, wax corrosion preventive coating composed of a carefully selected blend of inhibitors, emulsifiers, and surfactants formulated with minimal Volatile Organic Compounds/Content (VOC) at 0.43 lbs. per gallon for primary use as a final preservative coating on production parts prior to storage and shipment.
Rigorously tested to withstand extended exposure to elevated levels of moisture saturated saltwater mist without any signs of corrosive contamination, this premium water-based film coating provides incredible long term, environmentally conscious protection for various metal substrate applications.

This high-quality corrosion preventive film coating is made with water-based emulsifiers and has no flash point which means Safecote A is completely non-flammable and ideal for use in ignitable environments where there is risk of fire or explosions such as near electrical equipment, high temperature environments, or within confined spaces.

Safecote A is designed to, when dried, deposit a soft, amber-colored grease-like film from a water emulsion system that delivers outstanding long-term resistance to moisture-laden, high temperature environments and salt-based contaminants for various metal parts including engine blocks, valves, and gears.
Additionally, Safecote A is approved by the Kentucky State Department of Transportation (DOT) as a Bond Breaking Compound to help retain joint functionality when applied to dowel bars or rebar in contraction joints.

Safecote A is an excellent environmentally friendly coating built to deliver powerful, longstanding defense against rust and corrosive conditions for your valuable outdoor/indoor stored and shipped parts in a wide variety of challenging corrosive environments.

Product Uses:

  • The water-based formula ensures Volatile Organic Compounds/Content (VOC) are kept to a minimum, allowing for use in a variety of work environments where a corrosion preventative is required for production parts prior to storage/shipment.
  • Cured product leaves a soft, amber-colored, greasy wax-like film exhibiting exceptional high humidity and salt spray protection and resistance properties.
  • Excellent long-term preservative for metal substrates where a non-flammable product which deposits a soft, grease-like film is required.
  • Intended for use as a final preservative coating to deliver quality corrosion and rust prevention for production parts preparatory to storage and shipment including engine blocks, valves, gears, bushings, taps, chains, as well as tool and dies.
  • Free of Hazardous Air Pollutants (HAPs Free) and formulated with an extremely low maximum Volatile Organic Compounds/Content (VOC) of 0.43 lbs. per gallon for increased makes this useful for multiple application environments.
  • Safecote A works effectively as a Bond Breaking Compound and is approved by the Kentucky State Department of Transportation (DOT) to prevent concrete bonding when applied to dowel bars or rebar in contraction joints, preserving joint functionality.

Product Performance:

  • When applied at the recommended wet film thickness of 2-4 mils over the surface profile, it will deposit the recommended dry film thickness (DFT) of 1-1.5 mils.
  • Completely impervious to water and water-based contaminants after 90 minutes.
  • Covers 600 square ft. per gallon when applied at the recommended film thickness.
  • Can provide up to 3 years of indoor storage protection, 1-2 years of covered outdoor protection, and 1-3 months of uncovered outdoor protection on metal substrates at the recommended dry film thickness (DFT).

Application Equipment Recommendations:

  • Preferred application for Safecote A is dipping but it can be brushed, sprayed or flow coated on to the substrate.
  • Pumps with ratios of 15:1 or greater are advised for efficient use of container content.
  • Tungsten Carbide Nozzles Tip in the spray gun is recommended. (.09" to .013" tip orifice size)
  • High Pressure Fluid Hose of no less than 3/8 in. diameters is suggested for less than 50 ft. of material hose.
  • Low Ratio pumps (15-30:1): operate through 100 ft. of 1/2 in & 50 ft. of 3/8 in. hose for a max of 150 ft.
  • High Ratio pumps(>30:1): operate through 200 ft. of 1/2 in & 50 ft. of 3/8 in. hose for a max of - ft.

Identification & Classification Codes/Numbers:

  • Export Control Classification Number (ECCN):
