Tectyl 828 is a premium corrosion inhibitor compound conforming to MIL-PRF-18487A, gun slushing compound Military Specification.
This specification covers gun slushing compounds intended for use as high-performing, reliable corrosive preventives with high levels of corrosion protection on a wide range of ferrous (iron-containing) and non-ferrous (no-iron) metal applications stored indoors/outdoors for indefinite periods.  

Tectyl 828 is a high solid, hot application, corrosion preventive compound designed to resist corrosion on metallic surfaces stored indefinitely as well as during indoor/outdoor use.
Formulated for hot application to surfaces with a temperature of at least 140°F for optimal product flow properties with its molten state (150°F-160°F) providing amplified penetrating capabilities and enhanced overall adhesiveness.
This high solids rustproofing coating is easy to apply and builds up a substantially long-lasting protective film barrier less likely to evaporate, providing a sturdy defense against higher levels of moisture, salt, and atmospheric corrosion.

Tectyl 828 is an extremely tough and adaptable corrosion preventive compound that extends the service life of your metal surfaces considerably and provides lasting, cost-effective corrosion prevention for various metallic surface applications exposed to the harshest of environments and conditions.

Product Uses

• High Solids, Hot Application Corrosion Preventive Compound designed to protect a variety of ferrous (iron-containing)/non-ferrous (no-iron) metallic surfaces from industrial equipment, engines, transmissions, trailers, ships, and more against intense corrosive conditions.
• Conforms to meet the requirements of the MIL-PRF-18487A, gun slushing compound Military Specification.
• Removal can be performed via vapor degreasing, mineral spirits, or any other similar petroleum solvent.

Product Performance:

• Ideally calls for hot application to metallic surfaces with a temperature of at least the product High Temperature Flow Point minimum of 140°F in order to optimize product flow properties.
• High solids formulation enhances the buildup of the thick, waxy protective film and delivers long-lasting protection.
• High Temperature stability provides considerable corrosion protection for metal surface applications exposed to high humidity and elevated temperatures.

Application Equipment Recommendations:

• Pumps with ratios of 30:1 or greater are advised for efficient use of container content.
• Tungsten Carbide Nozzles Tip in the spray gun is recommended. (.019" to .023" tip orifice size)
• High Pressure Fluid Hose of no less than 3/8 in. diameters is suggested for less than 50 ft. of material hose.
• Low Ratio pumps (30:1): operate through 100 ft. of 1/2 inch & 50 ft. of 3/8 inch hose for a max of 150 ft.
• High Ratio pumps(>30:1): operate through 200 ft. of 1/2 inch & 50 ft. of 3/8 inch hose for a max of 250 ft.
• Can be applied in the hot molten/liquid state (160°F-190°F) by hot airless spray or dip.
• Can be applied at warm, ambient temperatures by brush or swab.
