Chevron Delo 400 XLE SB SAE 15W-40 Diesel Engine Oil
Chevron Delo 400 XLE SB SAE 15W-40 (formerly Chevron Delo 400 SDE and Chevron Delo 400 LE) is a synthetic blend heavy-duty engine oil formulated with ISOSYN® Advanced Technology. It combines synthetic and conventional base stocks with an additive system developed for mixed fleets, extended-drain programs, and modern or older heavy-duty engines requiring SAE 15W-40.
Delo 400 XLE SB is recommended for naturally aspirated and turbocharged four-stroke diesel engines and four-stroke gasoline engines where API CK-4 or API SN and SAE 15W-40 are specified. It supports on-highway and off-highway equipment, including engines equipped with Selective Catalytic Reduction, Diesel Particulate Filters, and Exhaust Gas Recirculation systems.
The formulation provides soot dispersancy, piston deposit control, oxidation resistance, shear stability, anti-wear protection, corrosion control, and low-temperature pumpability. It is also approved for Allison heavy-duty transmission units requiring TES-439.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is Chevron Delo 400 XLE SB 15W-40 used for?
Chevron Delo 400 XLE SB is used in on-highway and off-highway diesel engines, four-stroke gasoline engines, mixed fleets, and Allison heavy-duty transmissions where its viscosity grade, API service category, or applicable OEM approval is specified.
Is Chevron Delo 400 XLE SB fully synthetic?
No. Delo 400 XLE SB is a synthetic blend. It combines synthetic and conventional base stocks with Chevron’s ISOSYN® Advanced Technology additive system.
Is Delo 400 XLE SB backward compatible with older diesel engines?
Delo 400 XLE SB is approved for API CK-4 and several earlier API diesel-engine oil categories, including CJ-4, CI-4 PLUS, CI-4, and CH-4. The required viscosity grade and engine-manufacturer recommendations should still be confirmed.
Can Delo 400 XLE SB extend oil-drain intervals?
Delo 400 XLE SB has extended-drain potential of up to 1.5 times the average recommendation of U.S. Class 8 engine manufacturers. Actual drain intervals depend on the engine, duty cycle, operating conditions, fuel, maintenance practices, and oil condition.
Did Delo 400 XLE SB replace Delo 400 SDE?
Yes. Chevron discontinued Delo 400 SDE SAE 15W-40 and transitioned those customers to Delo 400 XLE SB SAE 15W-40. The former Delo 400 XLE 15W-40 product was also updated to the XLE SB name and blue packaging under product code 257004.
What Delo 400 XLE SB 15W-40 package sizes does Petroleum Service Company offer?
