Undercoating In A Can, Black Wax Coating in 12/12 oz. aerosol spray cans is a premium wax-based rust preventative sealant that protects undercarriages, and is designed for Commercial and Automotive vehicle use. Coverage is roughly 200 sq. ft. per gallon based on proper thickness of 5 mils dry (6.5 - 8 mils wet). 1 Case of 12 aerosol cans is enough to properly treat the average passenger car vehicle's under-body.

Wax based undercoating technology has protected United States Military vehicles (MIL-PRF-62218B) and semi-trailer chassis components, exposed to harsh, highly corrosive environments for over 50 years. This premium wax based undercoating is also the ultimate protection for your family vehicles.

Undercoating In A Can Black, Wax Coating is a "Rust Encapsulating" product meaning it can be applied to existing rust areas and will deter further compounding effects of rust (Rust Cancer). The coating has been continuously improved over the product lifetime to resist the very harmful side effects modern road salts- magnesium, calcium, and potassium chlorides. This rust inhibiting and sound deadening sealant forms a firm barrier film when applied to metal and wood structures, thereby extending the useful life of the coated surface. This coating exhibits excellent gravel, power wash, and impact resistance.

The latest revision of SAE J2721, for commercial trucks, requires coatings, intended for chassis components, to be exposed to SAE J400 gravel test, where high velocity stones are thrown at the film of coating, before cyclic exposure to the corrosive salt solutions. Consequently, excellent gravel resistance is vital for long term performance. Get the ultimate protection from UNDERCOATING IN A CAN.

    Close to OE

Posted by Phil , #1 Performance Automotive LLC. on Jan 13 2020

I have been in the collision industry for nearly 3 decades and this product seem to be close to what I see on Ford and Chevy truck frames from the factory. Bought this for an El Camino Restoration. The customer wanted something close to the OE coating, VS.the additional cost of a Full Frame restoration "powder coating". This fit the bill perfectly. Went on easy and cured overnight to a very uniform finish and it seems that you can handle it some without much transfer. Additional coats will be needed to get the proper mills. Haven't experienced the corrosion protection ability over extended time but from the looks and feel of the product I don't have a reason to expect it will not prevent rust or last.

    so far so good

it was time for a up grade..the old 93 first gen dodge is a great truck, but a little lean on comfort.after driving 2000 miles to bring my 13 dodge 4th gen home, undercoating in a can was my next step.1 case just about did the truck, went on fine..would have been nice to do it on a lift..have lots of venting, with a direction in the air movement.over spray will land on paint, but ok will wipe off..i did wax the truck before hand...time will tell if it is as good as they say.....mel in montana

    2019 SILVERADO

Posted by DOUG on Oct 23 2019

Just undercoated my 450 mile 2019 Silverado 1500 Trail Boss. Sprayed all in the rear wheel wells before installing new wheel well liners. This undercoating goes on like spray paint but be sure to have plenty of light because even with a silver colored truck I found that I needed to slow my back and forth motion to get a good uniform coating. This stuff makes the truck smell even newer, it comes in a close second to my favorite cologne...Eau de Octane 87. I have used rubberized undercoating sold at the NAPA stores and they dry hard and crack if its sprayed on to thick...seems capillary action would just pull and hold moisture in... thats bad. 'Undercoating in a can' has a softer waxy texture that goes on wet as its sprayed that appears to be pulled into seams by capillary action before it sets and hardens which seems to be better than other products that I have used that appear to go on like a thick foam. I will be watching to see how well in stays in place... I have had others wear off in a year that needed to be reapplied. The overspray cleaned up easier than mentioned, I read that you can use mineral spirits to wipe off overspray... maybe I read it wrong. Either way it came off very easy by using multiple dry soft clean rags with light/medium pressure. This stuff looks to be what it sayes it is... can't wait for time to tell. YOU GOTTA GIVE IT A TRY.

    First application and results.

Posted by Dan on Sep 11 2019

Product applies similar to others used. Like the black finish. Time will determine durability. Used four cans of twelve purchased. Had an issue with spray nozzle clogging. Corrected by soaking in solvent and reused. Impressed with product thus far.

    easy to apply

Posted by James H on Sep 10 2019

Order was delivered within a couple of days packaged well was plenty of space to include a can sprayer handle which I do believe they should throw in. Can will spray upside down for a little while and that is a good thing some spots are tuff to reach. Goes on easy and seems to coat very well. Had a small issue with overspray but will come off with mineral spirits, since truck had a fresh wax the day before it did come off a spot or two I missed with the spirits without any problem. I guess time will tell how it holds up, look forward to finding out. As of now I'm going with four stars.

    Over-spray Issue

    Posted by jimlewis@epix.net on Mar 28 2019

I had a concern because I had some over spray after treating my 2014 GMC Pick-up. I was instructed by PSC that it should come off with a little mineral spirits. I ended up using odorless mineral spirits from my local hardware store and it worked perfect.
    Thank You PSC!

Best product for undercarriage I've found.

Posted by Twainer on Aug 31 2018

I have a 2001 olds that I'm determined to keep pristine. Every fall I power wash and clean the undercarriage because that's where the battle against rust starts and I can't fix what's rusted away.
This spray goes on more evenly than paint cans and I know since its wax based it's going to seal salt out effectively. This is my 4th year with this undercoating and I've been impressed with how well it performs. The salt spray they put on the roads here will eat an older car in one season, but my olds looks brand new, winter after winter.
I don't mind re-applying once a year; in fact, I think its better because tar or paint hides blemishes that need attention.
I spent a few hours cleaning the underside, then the next day, I coat everything thoroughly. It's easy to apply and not messy like paint or tar products. Undercoat in a can gets applied anywhere rust might form. It's great stuff.

    product review

Posted by Unknown on Jul 20 2018

I purchased 12 cans of "Undercoating in a can" and was very pleased with the companies timely delivery of this product. Ordinarily the trigger doesn't come with this size order, but after I requested the part number and price for the trigger a rep from the company contacted me and said they would send me the trigger free of charge. I thought that was very generous of them. As far as the product, it sprayed on nicely and the video they provide on their website was informative. As far as how well this product works for rust protection, I'll let you know in 5 years. Judging by texture when applied it will probably beat no protection at all.

    Awesome Coverage

Posted by Mike M on Jun 19 2018

This looks great on frames. It dries quickly to a nice matte black finish. Seals out moisture and keeps the frame looking showroom. The spray cans work great with little overspray.

    Great application for spray cans

Posted by Big T on Jun 05 2018

Got the 12 12oz. Bomb cans to undercoat the southern bed I just purchased for my 2003 supercrew. Applied like the video said and it covered great. I also did the frame rails too. Since it is only a 5 and 1/2 foot bed it took 8 cans so I still have 4 left. I like the fact it is formulated to withstand the winter salt and brine they use to keep the roads clear here in North West Pa.

    great coating

Posted by Jay B on Apr 22 2018

used 11.5 cans to coat under 8 ft bed and deep into fender wells and the back frame, bed was removed. Had to replace some shock mounts so saved a little for that. Overall happy with application, weather changed so was still a little taky in the morning "sat over night, had to expedite the situation for moving.

Undercoat in a can - Looks good

Posted by John F on Feb 14 2018

Overall happy with the application of the product. Covers well. You must shake the cans very well. Suggest you leave them in a warm location prior to use. I used 11 cans on my F150 super crew cab with 5.5' bed. One can clogged a couple nozzles. One can splattered a lot so I kept shaking it frequently. The other 9 cans applied very well. First time using a wax based product. Long term performance TBD.

    Satisfied with my purchase

Posted by Unknown on Feb 05 2018

This product seems very similar to the product that GM uses on their truck frames from the factory. I can't give a long-term opinion at this point because I've only recently used it. I believe the wax type coating will hold up and this product would be a good touch up material for GM trucks as well as any other vehicle as long as there isn't previous rust.

Easy, controlled application with spray can

Posted by Unknown on Oct 02 2017

Excellent even coverage. I used 12 cans to complete frame, front end and suspension on 2017 Tacoma. I can't offer a long term review as it was just recently applied, but I'm confident this product will prevent rust as long I don't scuff and scrape it away. I taped off entire exhaust, but this was largely unnecessary as the spray was easily controlled. So far, only one minor complaint. This seems to take a long time to set, making any additional work underneath the vehicle very difficult without removing the fragile undercoating. I'd recommend getting other work complete before applying Undercoating in a Can.

    Very Impressed

Posted by Stephen Rosko on Aug 09 2017

sprayed the whole frame, front and rear axle of my 2012 F250. Wanted a product that would cover up the ugly look of the rust and also protect everything from corrosion. This stuff went on easy and thick and looks awesome! Very happy with the wax finish and ease of the spray can.

Undercoating In A Can - Application Review

Posted by Unknown on Oct 19 2016

Be sure to wear a respirator, protective clothing, and goggles that seal to your face. Loose fitting eye protection does not help the airborne mist it creates. If indoors, use plenty of ventilation.
I ordered a case of spray cans. Shipping was super fast! I pressure washed under my truck the night before and let dry. Cans need to be shaken at least 30 seconds before mixing ball inside can starts to actually move and mix the paint. I would continue to shake another 30 secs to a minute after before use.
Take your time, but don't let the can sit too long without cleaning the nozzle upside down after spraying, because it may clog. This stuff is pretty thick but sprays nice. Use as directed with about 3 swipes in any area for a good coating. Dries to a nice firm but somewhat pliable coating. I await the Maine sand & salt, i think this is going to do great to protect my frame!
